Tripio Lithari is a natural arch formed by the erosion of the limestone rocks on the eastern ridge of Koziakas, at an altitude of 1650m., and is one of the reference points for the mountain. The Arch, with a diameter of about 10 meters, forms a passage to the western side of the mountain. The natural arch is formed on the limestone with a steep cliff face. The rock becomes narrower due to erosion over geologic time. The softer rock stratum erodes away creating rock shelters, or alcoves, on opposite sides of the formation beneath the relatively harder stratum, or caprock, above it. The alcoves erode further into the formation thus creating an arch. The path that leads to Tripio Lithari from Kori village leads through a dense oak forest and then into a virgin beech forest. The last part of the route, the most difficult, is in a rocky stream with dense vegetation and fir trees. On the small plateau right behind the Tripio Lithari arch, the trekking path leads to the Astrapi peak (1901m.) and to the refuge. From Tripio Lithari, the route continues into a passable slope with sparse vegetation and, passing south of the peak, ends at the shelter.
