In the region of the Pyli-Meteora Geopark, a unique event was held to revive old traditional activities, organized by the Municipality of Pyli, offering both young and old an unforgettable experience. Adults passed on the traditions, customs, and values of the wider Geopark area to the children through play, highlighting social interaction, values, and customs that are fundamental elements of the cultural identity of the region. The goal was to convey the message that culture is a foundational element of our people’s identity, passed down from generation to generation through the experiences of the “significant others” in their lives. The children enthusiastically played traditional games such as “abariza,” “apples,” “tzami,” “blind man’s buff,” “pass the bee,” and at the end, they danced in a large circle to traditional dances, filling the space with joy and liveliness. The participation of the public and the organization by various local entities were crucial to the success of the event, confirming the importance of joint effort and collaboration in preserving our cultural heritage.
