Mpeis’ cave is located on a small plateau of Koziakas, at an altitude of 1220 meters. It is a site of natural beauty, with dense vegetation and fir trees, through which the European Path E4 passes. Its entrance is a sinkhole formed by the dissolution of the limestone forming inside its ducts and chambers 15 meters high. The waters of the plateau drain inside it and find an outlet on the eastern side of the mountain. The karstic cave is a complex branching system with underground galleries and streams.
At the entrance of the sinkhole, a 7-meter-high waterfall is formed. The entrance to the cave can be achieved with the help of a fixed rope. A small pond is formed in front of the cave’s entrance. It was formed in 2014 by the subsidence of the ground and the concentration of the running waters of the area.
