Meteora – Pyli Geopark participated in the 51st Coordination Committee of the European Geoparks Network with a strong presence. A total of 109 UNESCO Geoparks from 28 European countries gathered in Paris as part of the 10th Anniversary of the International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme. The meeting took place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
The Mayor of Meteora, Lefteris Avramopoulos, along with the Special Advisor of the Meteora – Pyli Geopark, Nikos Pitsoulis, represented the geopark in its first-ever appearance at the largest Geoparks Network.
At the same time, Mayor Avramopoulos had the opportunity to present the unique geological features of the region and outline the development goals of the Geopark.
The dynamic participation of the Meteora – Pyli Geopark delegation in this significant meeting reaffirms its commitment to international cooperation for the protection of geodiversity and the promotion of the local community.
