Meteora – Pyli, Vikos – Aoos, and Grevena – Kozani Join Forces
Joint Meeting of Three UNESCO Global Geoparks in Pyli
The first meeting between representatives of the Meteora – Pyli Geopark and those of the neighboring UNESCO Global Geoparks of Vikos – Aoos and Grevena – Kozani will take place at the Pyli Town Hall on Wednesday, February 12, and Thursday, February 13, 2025.
This meeting is organized as part of the coordination efforts among the three Geoparks to establish joint initiatives that highlight the unique geosites, geological, cultural, and historical heritage of these areas—key elements that led to their inclusion in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.
During the meeting, discussions will focus on collaborative actions to promote the Geoparks and enhance local communities’ understanding of both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with their UNESCO designation. Topics will also include the potential integration of geotrails to create a unified tourism network for visitors, the organization of events to showcase the geological and cultural heritage and natural beauty of the regions, as well as the development of integrated tourism proposals aimed at strengthening geotourism. These efforts are expected to contribute to increasing the local gross product and reinforcing the value chain of local products and services.
