In the hills of old Koperna, where the village of Aura originally existed, St George stands guard to remind the passage of St Cosmas the Aetolian and the presence of people in this place.
It is the Orthodox chapel of St. George, which in recent years was restored through the efforts of the faithful and manned by Archimandrite Dorotheos Tzevelekas.
It is noted that Saint Kosmas the Aetolian passed through Aura and taught in the area where the monastery is today.
It is worth noting that this year a brick building was erected next to the church, which is intended for the cells of the monks who will staff the monastery in the future.
The Monastery of St George in Aura is celebrated twice a year, once on the feast of St George and once on the feast of St Cosmas the Aetolian (24 August).
