It is located outside the homonymous village of Chassia and 30km from Kalambaka. The date of foundation of the monastery is unknown and we know little about its history. The monastery, which used to be a male monastery, but in 1968 it was converted into a female one, includes a large precinct with the cells, the areas for the functional needs of the monastic community and the katholikon located in the centre of the precinct. The katholikon, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, was built in more than one phase, the oldest of which includes the nave. Typologically, it is a cross-shaped inscribed, tetrastyle church, inscribed with good quality frescoes of the early 17th century. The narthex of the catholic is decorated with frescoes painted in the mid-18th century by the Chionadian painter Michael of Michael. Interesting is the wooden carved iconostasis of the church, which according to its stylistic characteristics is placed in the beginning of the 18th century. The icons of the iconostasis also date back to the 18th century.
