On Wednesday 15 January 2025 representatives of the Geoparks of Grevena – Kozani, Viko-Aoos and Meteora-Pyli met online with the main topic of discussion being the creative and effective development of cooperation relations in various fields between the three entities. All three Geoparks are located on the north-western axis of Pindos, which gives them the advantage of comparatively short distances of transition from one to the other. This is an important advantage as it enables the geo-visitor to visit them through a short stay of a few days, while enjoying a variety of different geo-experiences. The meeting was attended by Mrs. Anna Batsis from the Geopark of Grevena-Kozani, Mrs. Georgia Kitsaki and Mr. Haritakis Papaioannou from the Geopark of Viko-Aoos and Mrs. Effi Fotaki from the Geopark of Meteora-Pyli. Through an extremely creative discussion I set as a basis for future cooperation goals such as:
- The development of a common route that the visitor can follow between the three geoparks, thus enhancing the visitability and visibility of the project in all three areas
- The visit of representatives of the two geoparks to the Meteora-Pyli Geopark in the coming days in order to draw up an integrated cooperation plan in areas such as geo-tourism, geo-education, geo-recreation, etc.
- The development, exchange and promotion of the institution of Ambassadors who will be properly trained to support and guide visitors, presenting the opportunities when visiting all three regions as a whole through an integrated programme.
Finally, the Meteora-Pyli Geopark would like to thank the representatives who participated both for their willingness to support its work and for the valuable cooperation that is imminent.
