In view of the UN’s World Day for Natural Disaster Reduction, which is celebrated on 13 October 2024, two key awareness and information actions are planned for the protection of Pyli-Meteora Geopark from the effects of climate change.
The first action concerns an informative event for the general public, organized by the Local Coordinating Body for Civil Protection of the Municipality of Meteora. The event will take place on 13 October and will focus on raising public awareness of the risks posed by climate change. In particular, practical measures to prepare for the winter to protect the Geopark of Pyli-Meteora from the effects of climate change, in order to ensure the preservation of its natural wealth, will be discussed.
The second action will take place on 12 October as part of the 2nd Panhellenic Truffle Festival, in cooperation with the Meteora Natural History Museum and the Mushroom Museum. The aim is to inform both the local community and visitors about the threats posed by climate change to the Geopark and the measures required for its protection. Through this action, the link between environmental protection and the preservation of the natural wealth of the area will be highlighted in parallel.
